A Message from Leadership | GRIM
Dear Friends,
One of the joys for all of us here at La Jolla Playhouse is shepherding new musicals in their earliest stages of development. There is a particular delight connected to finding all the ways in which a story can sing. The stakes have to be so high that everything warrants music; character, clothing, scenery – it all moves and hums and leaps out of the heads of writers, off of the page and onto a stage.
La Jolla Playhouse has been a part of guiding nearly 40 new musicals into the world. It’s a particular point of pride for us because it’s a challenging, rigorous – but ultimately thrilling – art form.
GRIM is an explosion of hilarity, cheekiness and pathos. With a dynamo creative team and an expert company of performers, the show explores legacy, ambition and mortality through a daughter trying to decide whether or not to join the family business.
Thank you for being here to witness the birth of another extraordinary world premiere at the Playhouse. We are so excited to share with you the new and the next in American musical theatre.
