Andy Thomas was a dedicated member of the Playhouse’s Board of Trustees for almost a decade. He was on the leadership team of the Playhouse’s Innovation Night and served for many years on the Playhouse’s Philanthropy and Marketing Committees. Andy used his extraordinary talent for connecting people and institutions across San Diego to support and further the mission of the Playhouse. He loved the artistic work of the Playhouse and, as Senior Vice President of Business Development for Evans Hotels, took great pleasure and pride in making the resources of the Lodge at Torrey Pines, the Catamaran Resort and the Bahia Resort available to support Playhouse artists, Playhouse staff and Playhouse friends.

Andy’s passion for the San Diego community was evident in his many board appointments. He served as a trustee of the San Diego International Film Festival and of the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation. He was on the Advisory Board for the Birch Aquarium at Scripps and was a member of the San Diego Business Association. Andy was also a Commission Advisory Panelist for the Commission for Arts and Culture for San Diego.

At the Playhouse, we will miss and remember Andy’s boundless energy and enthusiasm for our
art and our artists, and his deep commitment to and investment in the San Diego community.
