I have been a subscriber to the Playhouse for many years and have had the privilege of serving as a member of the Board of Trustees. As a Trustee, I’ve had the unique experience of witnessing how theatre productions are developed — over years in many cases — and hearing from writers, directors and actors about their respect for and appreciation of the Playhouse as a catalyst for new work. The Playhouse’s multi-talented team is dedicated to bringing artists and the community together to inspire, challenge and uplift us. The enduring relationships that the Playhouse has fostered allows them to attract the best of the best, such as the team behind this extraordinary world-premiere play, Babbitt. 

The Playhouse also plays an important role in San Diego beyond the theatre walls. Programs such as the POP Tour and Without Walls (WOW) bring the theatre experience into the community to engage and motivate new audiences. The DNA New Work Series and teacher/student workshops and residencies provide a supportive, educational environment for the development of artists and their work. In my mind, La Jolla Playhouse is a true San Diego treasure.
